We’re currently recruiting for an experienced Metal Fabricator based at our factory in Gateshead. This is an amazing opportunity to join our unique signage team. We’re looking for a multi-skilled sign maker / fabricator to join our in-house manufacturing department with a keen eye and obvious talent. The role will predominantly include the fabrication of signage and lettering through welding and various sheet metal work. The role will involve manual handling and the use of a variety of power tools to complete the work. The ideal candidate will have experience in all aspects of metal work and fabrication. In addition, you should be time served sheet metal workers and be familiar with all aspects of metal fabrication including the use of guillotines, brake presses and bending machines. Experience in aluminium, steel and stainless steel is required.

The successful candidate would be required to look after the following areas in the business.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Experience with both aluminium and stainless steel
Experience with soft solder
Understand different letter fixing methods
Fabricate and weld to a high standard of quality in a timely manner
Follow company weld procedures and achieve relevant welder qualifications
Understand drawings and follow job sheets
Safety practices must be applied at all times
Have min 2 years’ experience in sheet metal/steel fabrication industry
Be a quick learner and enjoy working on multiple different projects simultaneously
Skills & experience required for the role:
Ability to read detailed drawings
Strong attention to detail
Organised with ability to meet deadlines
Clear communication skills both verbal and written
Willingness to work overtime as and when required
Use of power tools
Qualifications & characteristics:
Qualified MIG welder and fabricator with experience
Able to cut and fabricate steel accurately to drawings
Able to read and accurately interpret technical drawings and cutting lists produced by the office
The successful candidate should be able to effectively demonstrate that they are capable of working with colleagues and management to problem solve
Experience operating a range of metalworking equipment

Salary: £13.50 per hour
40 hours per week – Monday to Thursday 8.00 a.m. – 5.00 p.m. | Friday 8.00 a.m. – 2.00 p.m.
